Read the Bible in a year.

Today's reading is Nehemiah 4- 6

If you have ever thought about reading the entire Bible then here is your chance to take up the challenge. The Bible is not a single narrative written by one person, as we understand books today. Think of the Bible as a library. It is a collection of prophecies, histories, prayers, parables and teaching written down over many centuries. The writings that were considered the most sacred and thoses that were mostly used by the Jews and later the Christians were brought together in what we now know as the Bible.

The Lord's Prayer
  (traditional form)

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever,
Amen
  (modern form)

Our Father in heaven
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Do not bring us to the time of trial
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Amen
